Conceived as a small waterfront subdivision, Lowndes Pointe exists as a quiet cul-de-sac comprised of tasteful, elevated Charleston-style homes.  With only 31 lots, all homes in the neighborhood contain high end finishes, and they offer the benefit of living on the water, as well as easy access to it.  A private community pier, exclusive to Lowndes Pointe, features 12 jet docks and 12 wet slips.  A newer neighborhood, Lowndes Pointe stands out for its secluded and peaceful presence on the upper peninsula.

History

Introduced in 2000 by developers, the first lots in this neighborhood were sold in 2003.  Although a more recently constructed neighborhood, the homes of Lowndes Pointe were built in neoclassical style, to reflect the classic Charleston architecture seen on the lower peninsula.  Having the advantage of being a waterfront community, Lowndes Pointe is often referred to as a boater’s dream- living on the peninsula with direct access to the Ashley River.

Location

Located just north of Wagener Terrace, Lowndes Pointe sits along the Ashley River, all of its homes offering stunning water views.  Its location offers convenience to downtown, yet the neighborhood itself is removed from the hustle and bustle of life on the lower peninsula.  In addition to being in close proximity to Hampton Park and the Citadel, Lowndes Pointe is close by to Joe Riley stadium, with easy access to I-26 and US-17.

Education

The neighborhood is zoned for Charleston’s metro public school system.  In addition, there are a number of independent elementary, middle, and high schools within a few miles.  Notables include Ashley Hall, a K-12 college preparatory school for girls, and Porter Gaud, a K-12 college preparatory school for both girls and boys.

Amenities

The Lowndes Pointe neighborhood is a beautiful area of downtown Charleston and the current HOA fee is $1400/year.  Amenities include expansive views of the Ashley River, as well as a private neighborhood floating dock.  Hampton Park is close by, offering walking and fitness trails, open green space, and more!
