Want to be part of the state’s largest Thanksgiving 5K this November, 28th? The 36th Annual Turkey Day Run and Gobble is right around the corner. Participants will enjoy running and walking a scenic course through historic Charleston and Battery. The course itself is relatively flat. It descends slights as the participants make their way along the peninsula, and then has a slight ascent as they return to the square.
The race ends in a large party in Marion Square that includes free food and beverages. It is a family friendly event with a Children’s Fun Run and other kid’s activities, including a Krispy Kreme Dunking Station. There will be live music and an awards ceremony. Cash prizes are award to the top three finishers for both males and females. Beer will be served for those of age.
This race is held annually and began over 100 years ago. Last year this race saw record participation. 6,052 runners and walkers were registered, and 5,834 completed the race. Come help make history and set another record this year.
The Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble is a charity fundraiser put on by Knights of Columbus, Rev. P.N. Lynch, Council 704 for local charities. In previous years, Alzheimer’s Association, Boy Scouts of America (Lowcountry chapter) and Crisis Ministries have received the monies raised. The Knights are a Catholic fraternal service group.
