The Cassina Guide: May Events

With summer right around the corner, now is the time to get out and explore the Lowcountry.  There are several events going on this month so we’ve rounded up three of our favorites:

  1. Tall Ships Charleston (May 19-21): This three-day festival kicks off with a “Parade of Sail” event in Charleston Harbor and runs throughout the weekend.  Demonstrations, live music, cruises and more take place in the Old Charleston Naval Shipyard, giving people the chance to see ships from around the world.                                                                     (Image from Tall Ships Charleston)
  2. Charleston Farmers Market (May 20, 27)–Taking place in downtown Charleston’s Marion Square Park, the Charleston Farmers Market showcases a great assortment of fresh produce, prepared foods, local crafts and more.  It is open on Saturdays from 8am-2pm.                                                                    (Image from Charleston Farmers Market)
  3. Spoleto Festival USA (May 26-June 11)–One of Charleston’s most celebrated annual events, Spoleto Festival USA, kicks off this month.  The two-week festival features a wide array of performances including theatre, opera, music and more at the city’s churches, theatres and outdoor spaces.                                                                     (Image from Spoleto Festival USA)
