To kick-off the New Year, we have put together a list of events that are sure to boost your spirits. Here are some of our favorite events taking place this month in the Lowcountry:
- Charleston Restaurant Week (now through 1/22): This semi-annual tradition has quickly become one of the most anticipated culinary events of the year. Hosted by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, the two-week long event showcases Charleston’s culinary talent. Participating restaurants throughout the Lowcountry offer set three course menus from anywhere from $20-$45/person. It’s a great opportunity to try out a new place or revisit one of your favorites, but reservations do book up quickly so make your plans today!
- Charleston Jazz Festival (January 20-22): In its third year, the Charleston Jazz Festival has expanded into a three-day celebration of all things jazz. The festival showcases Charleston’s top jazz bands and welcomes 20-time Grammy Award winners The Manhattan Transfer and Take 6. The full schedule is available online and proceeds benefit Jazz Artists of Charleston’s Youth Jazz Program.
- Lowcountry Oyster Festival (January 29): Growing in size every year, the Lowcountry Oyster Festival is one of the best places to sample the indigenous bivalve. Over 80,000 pounds of oysters are transported to Boone Hall and activities include oyster shucking contests, live music, a children’s area and more.
