The Cassina Guide: Fourth of July in Charleston

Who doesn’t love the Fourth of July?  With this year’s holiday falling on a Monday, there’s no better place to celebrate than historic Charleston, SC.  Here are a few of our favorite spots to catch Monday’s fireworks displays in downtown Charleston, Mount Pleasant and the area beaches:Capture 4

  1. Mount Pleasant Pier: Sponsored by Charleston County Parks, the annual “Uncle Sam Jam” event offers a perfect vantage point to enjoy the fireworks along with live local music throughout the night and food and beverage for purchase. (7pm, $8-$10)
  2. Patriots Point: Celebrate aboard the deck of the USS Yorktown, one of the most historic warships in the United States.  Entry includes live music, food and beverage (for purchase) and a unique perspective to see the harbor’s fireworks displays. (4pm, $40-$110)
  3. Isle of Palms: Pack up a beach blanket and head over to the front beach on Isle of Palms for a spectacular fireworks display that is sure to impress. (9pm, free)
  4. The SC Aquarium: The aquarium’s signature “Sea, Stars and Stripes” event offers great views of the city’s fireworks along with BBQ, a Lowcountry boil and admission to the aquarium. (7-10pm, $30-$60)
  5. Kiawah Island: If you’re going to be out at Kiawah, be sure to stop by the Independence Festival at Night Heron Park.  Festivities include a bike parade, live music, kids activities and a fireworks display. (6pm, free)
  6. Charleston Harbor: If you like being on the water, this event is for you.  The 2 hour cruise circles around the Charleston Harbor with live bluegrass music and a cash bar. (8:30-10:30pm, $36)Capture 5
