The Cassina Guide: August Events

Despite summer winding down and the start of school right around the corner, there is still plenty of time to soak in those days of summer.  Here are some noteworthy events taking place in the Lowcountry this month:

  1. Second Sunday on King (August 13th): Every second Sunday of the month from 1-5pm Charleston’s popular King Street is transformed into a pedestrian-only thoroughfare from Calhoun to Queen streets.  Pop-up shops, sidewalk dining and live entertainment fill the street, making it an ideal location to shop and socialize.                                                                                         (Image from CCPRC)
  2. Moonlight Mixers (August 18th): If you like dancing and beach music, this event is for you.  Shag the night away on the Folly Beach fishing pier with the sounds of the ocean as your backdrop.  The event takes place from 7-11pm and is $8/person with food and beverages available for purchase.                                                                                           (Image from CVB)
  3. Total Eclipse (August 21st): If you’ve never experienced a total eclipse, now is your chance.  On August 21st, Charleston will witness a total eclipse from 2:38-2:39pm.  There are many, many events going on throughout the Lowcountry to celebrate this milestone event so take a look and choose your favorite!
