    Hugh Molten’s Church Home

Processed with VSCOcam with s3 presetIn 2013, our agent Hugh Molten purchased a 1600 square foot church in Mount Pleasant to be remodeled into the house of his dreams. It was originally built in 1964 as the Beulah Church of Christ.

Before starting the project, many of the neighbors shared personal stories from the their experience at the church. It was clearly an important part of the community and something that needed to be preserved.

Permitting for the project took 6 months to complete, due to the change in occupancy. Additionally, seismic requirements required a new slab foundation to be formed within the existing walls of the building. The concrete slab was then polished and now serves as the finished flooring.

Hugh’s total budget for the project was $200K including the purchase price. This constraint was a key factor in forcing him to look outside of the box to find unique and interesting ways to complete the initial vision. This is principally what led to making all the light fixtures and using atypical materials such as hot rolled steel and commercial overhead doors.

Hugh is an agent with a knack for finding off-the-radar properties and helping visualize the potential they hold. As you can see, he is talented in this area and would be happy to help you find your dream home – even if it is a little off the beaten path.
