Jay and Dana Romanosky grew up near the water and always wanted to move back to the coast. After spending time living in California and then in Raleigh, North Carolina, they decided to make the leap and move to Charleston with their two young daughters, Hayes and Eden, and dog, Kona. They worked with REALTOR(R) Meghan Webster who was able to find them the perfect home in Mount Pleasant. Read on to learn more about their home search and some of their favorite things about their new house!
What motivated you to move?
D: We lived in California (before North Carolina) so we are definitely ocean people. We grew up near the water as well. We were in North Carolina in the Raleigh area for about 5 years and it was too far from the ocean from us. We started coming down here and we just loved it. And totally thought: “We could live in Charleston!”
What was the home search like?
D: We got Meghan’s name from a good friend of ours. We had already come down here a lot and knew we wanted to move into an area about 10 minutes to the beach and 10-15 minutes from downtown. We were online a lot and she gave us a lot of choices within our parameters. She tried to show us neighborhoods we didn’t really think about either, which I’m really glad [she did]. We saw everything that we could see! Ultimately, when we found this one it all kind of clicked. It worked out. We just had a feeling and it’s been great. We’ve met so many nice people in this neighborhood!
What were the key selling points of this home?
D: A few things that sold me were the big porch in the back and the location. We can bike to the beach which is amazing. We can be to the Children’s Museum downtown or to the aquarium in 11 minutes. The location was perfect. I also really liked how open it is.
What is your favorite spot in your new home?
D: My favorite spot is probably the back porch or the fire pit.
J: Absolutely! It’s our favorite spot in this house.
How was your experience working with Meghan?
D: [Meghan] was so good! She’s so thorough and knowledgable. I think she really stands up for you, for your sale, for your deal. And I think that’s she’s tenacious too.
J: Her legal background is really good to in dealing with contracts and negotiating.
What are your favorite things to do in the area or neighborhood?
D: It’s a huge bonus having a pool that we don’t have to deal with that’s like five houses away. It’s so easy!
J: And Sullivan’s is like 6 minutes from here!
