Cassina Client Spotlight: Anna Johnson & Bryan Toole

combined-1

Anna and Bryan have lived in Charleston for thirteen years. With retirement coming up, they were ready for less space and less work! They called REALTORS Gabriella Andrews and Managing Broker Owen Tyler to help them sell their current home and find the perfect new place for them to call home. They needed to be close to the peninsula and they were also looking for a neighborhood with a strong sense of community.

They quickly fell in love with The Marais at Seaside Farms neighborhood in Mount Pleasant and knew that’s where they wanted to be.

What motivated you to move?

It was really hard because we really loved the place on the creek, but neither one of us likes yard work.  It was getting to the point that we knew we’d have to put a lot in and we had rooms we never used.  And the grandchildren are now teenagers and not visiting as much.

What was the home search like?

We looked at a lot of places. We knew we wanted to be in this neighborhood, in fact the first time we saw it.  I also want to say how wonderful it was working with both Gaby and Owen.  They would always call you back in a minimum of 24 hours.  And if we didn’t hear anything all week–of course we were in touch by email all the time…–but we always knew that if we hadn’t heard by Friday afternoon, Owen would be calling us.  And Gaby was just wonderful.  She was walking around the neighborhood talking to people before she even showed us this one.  She had shown us one or two others here. Gaby handled the purchase.  Owen handled the sale. They were just terrific.

What were the selling points in this home?

We liked the open space with the formal dining room.  We had to have a formal dining room because we entertain a lot. And we liked it because we can walk to so many places.  I mean we’ve got so many restaurants and…places right around here.

What are your favorite things to do in the area or neighborhood?

Saveurs du Monde is a good one. We go to happy hour at Opal a lot. There are a lot of us that go to Opal for happy hour! Also, the place has a lovely pool.  That was really important to us to have a place to swim.  There were some smaller subdivisions though that didn’t have pool so we said “No, that’s not acceptable.”
